The tropical rainforest in the Ecuadorian Amazon continues to be destroyed. Despite many efforts, humans continue to cut down this unique and highly diverse forest day by day.
Therefore, in 1993, the cooperative Selva Viva was founded to protect the primary rainforest. The remaining primary forest must be protected from imminent deforestation, and this needs to be done in the long term. To achieve this, not only has forest land been purchased with donations, but a many project have also been established. Partners within the network of Selva viva are:
