The tropical rainforest of the Ecuadorian Amazon is still being destroyed—day by day, trees are logged and with them the rich, unique biodiversity of this ecosystem. As a result, countless animals lose their natural habitat and face an uncertain future.
To address this crisis, amaZOOnico.com was founded in 1993. It serves as a sanctuary for animals rescued from illegal wildlife trafficking. Working in close partnership with Liana Lodge and other local initiatives, amaZOOnico supports indigenous-led projects, protects native flora and fauna, and promotes environmental education.
You can be part of the solution!
Support tropical wildlife by becoming a member, making a small donation to help run amaZOOnico, or volunteering at the animal rescue center. Volunteers and their families receive substantial discounts on their stay at Liana Lodge. We also offer special rates for scientists, students, and anyone interested in conducting research or help with one of our partner projects.
